About Perth's attractions and tours

The relaxed, laid-back atmosphere of Perth allows you to explore the city at your own pace and time. Although it is the capital city of the largest state of Australia, it is by comparison, a much smaller city than other such cities as Brisbane and Sydney. So, if what you are looking to do is to relax in a great destination, then Perth is the ideal place for you. By sheer numbers alone, the museums, shopping districts and wildlife reserves found in Perth should be more than sufficient to pique anyone s interest. However, it does not stop there. Perth offers even more places that will quench one s thirst for history, nature and new sights.

On Mill Point Road, South Perth stands the Old Mill. It is one of the oldest landmarks in the city with historical significance, having been constructed in 1835 when Perth as a colony was just being born. Primarily built to make flour, it stopped doing so in 1859 and came under the ownership of the National Trust in 1992. Visitors stepping through the gates would find themselves conveyed back in time. Then there’s the Barracks Arch, a monument made of bricks, which was destroyed in 1966. Though not much is left of the arch, it is significant for representing the Pensioner Forces headquarters.

The Swan Bells at Barrack Square Perth was opened to the public in December of 2000. The bells, from the St. Martin Parish in London, were gifts given to Perth to mark the Australian Bicentennial. It is considered the biggest change ringing device in existence. There’s also the oldest operating mint in the world where a visitor can really mint gold coins and hold gold bars. At the Perth mint, which handles a ton of the precious metal a day, guests can also engrave personalized messages on golden medallions. One can also visit the St. Mary s Cathedral and Saint Nektarios Greek Orthodox Parish for a dash of faith. Perth can be a nature lovers´ nirvana with the Mundaring Weir, the Armadale Reptile & Wildlife Centre and the magnificent Kings Park & Botanic Garden among others.

The Perth zoo and the Cohunu Wildlife Park, where you can get cuddly with a koala, would be ideal for family outings.
